Chapter 9 – Business Structures and Other Regulations

We have reached a significant milestone in the regulation BOOST program. Our last chapter of material! Can you believe you are at this point in your studies? After Chapter 9 of BOOST, you will move to your final review. Please don’t forget to use the guidance we provide in the "final review" module on the site!

We are completing our discussion of business law. Overall, Chapter 9 is a short chapter with 14 pages of notes. The most important items in Chapter 9 are Appendix A and B. One of the keys on the CPA exam is knowing the important rules but also knowing/keeping the different rules for similar items straight in your mind. These appendices are intended to do this (i.e., provide you the most important concepts and show the rules for similar items side-by-side so you can comprehend the differences). The CPA exam tests these differences and tries to confuse you regarding these items (for example, upon an owner withdrawal, which business structures will an owner continue and not continue to remain liable for the debts incurred by the business structure?) 

As it seems we have reminded you about 500 times, please don't rush through this material and take your time to understand it. Remember, an additional week of studying (if needed) will be well worth it if the additional time is the difference between passing and failing the regulation section of the CPA exam!

Also, when you are close to completing Chapter 9 of BOOST, you should take a practice test (with only multiple choice) for the content noted on page one or two of the document with content comparison of BOOST and Becker. This practice test will help you determine how much of the Chapters 1 to 8 BOOST information you have retained and how well you have integrated the various topics in Chapters 1 to 8. You should review your notes (which are a subsection of the BOOST outlines) periodically during the week to keep this information fresh in your mind.
